No Time to Hide for Muslims by Aijaz Zaka Syed (View from Dubai)‏

well this is one of the finest feeling i came across while i was blogging…

this are the feeling of Aijaz Zaka Syed from dubai, Khaleej times

rest all is here for u to read 🙂 post in ur comments please…

” Watching the terror nightmare unfold in Mumbai over the past three days with me on television, my kids have repeatedly asked me: “Who are these terrorists and why are they doing this?” And every time I wished I could offer them a convincing answer.

What could I tell them? For one, I was equally clueless why these guys had taken over India ‘s financial and cultural capital and were targeting people who had nothing to do with them and had done nothing to harm them.

For two, I was too ashamed to tell them these guys were ostensibly Muslims and came from a country that was created in the name of Islam.

At work, while my colleagues went about covering the madness in Mumbai and laying out special pages with the images of the incredibly beautiful hotel, Taj, with its Islamic arches and domes, go up in smoke, I find it hard to look my colleagues in the eye.

And this happens all the time. Every time innocents are targeted in the name of Islam around the world, one can’t face one’s non-Muslim friends and colleagues.  I feel like burying myself in the ground.  Growing up in a religious family, one never thought one would see the day when being a Muslim could be a source of shame.

A distraught friend who has devoted her life to speaking and fighting on behalf of Arabs and Muslims wrote in yesterday saying “I’ve had it with the Arabs and Muslims and Islamic militancy. Forgive me but I am throwing in the towel.”

I couldn’t write back to her but understood her pain.  She grew up in Mumbai and is understandably upset.

My friend went on to say: “The Muslims and Islam have a problem and only they can solve it.  If they do not, the whole world will turn against them.”

If this is how our most loyal friends feel, imagine the sentiments and reactions of the rest of the world.  Can you blame the world if it’s turning against Muslims? What do you expect when not a single day passes without the name of our faith being dragged through the mud by fellow believers around the world?

How many innocents have to die in the name of Islam before Muslim leaders and countries take effective action to deal with the nuts, who are out to destroy us all with their nihilistic cult?

I know that the Muslim leaders including those in the highest echelons of power have lately started speaking out against the extremists.

Darul Uloom Deoband in India , one of the oldest and most respected centres of learning in the Muslim world, issued a fatwa against terrorism at a large gathering of Islamic scholars and leaders in June.  Last month, nearly 5,000 scholars backed the edict at a huge congregation in Hyderabad .

The OIC, the organisation of Muslim states, and Saudi Arabia , the leader of the Arab-Islamic world, have of late been equally vehement in condemning these repulsive acts of violence targeting innocents.

Eminent Muslim intellectuals and journalists like Tariq Ramadan, a grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan Al Banna, and India ‘s MJ Akbar and numerous others too have repeatedly protested this distortion of Islamic teachings and spirit.

These calls of conscience on behalf of mainstream Islam have however proved voices in the wilderness.  Clearly, we need to do more to be heard by the world and to stop this shameful victimisation of innocent people in the name of religion.

The great irony of the Mumbai attacks is the killing of Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare and his colleagues.  Karkare, a brave and decorated officer investigating the Malegaon blasts and other recent terror attacks that he established to be the handiwork of Hindu extremists, not Muslim groups like SIMI, was killed by the terrorists outside Cama hospital Wednesday night.   Obviously, Muslims do not know who their real friends and enemies are. And, pray, why is India increasingly being singled out for this savagery?  What do they think this country is? A Hindu country or an anti-Muslim nation?

Do the ignorant dummies repeatedly being sent out on the so-called jihad know that this great country is home to the world’s largest Muslim population? Almost twice the size of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan!  India ‘s greatest superstar is a Muslim, not to mention the countless achievers in other fields.

Why are our friends across the border bent on destroying the whole world with themselves? Is this what Islam and the noble Prophet teach and stand for?

It’s all very well for us to say Islam has nothing to do with extremism and terrorism.  We can go on deluding ourselves these psychopaths do not represent us.

However, the world finds it hard to accept this line of argument because it sees the extremists increasingly assert themselves and take the centre-stage while the mainstream Islam remains silent.

The great religion that preaches and celebrates universal brotherhood, equality of men and peace and justice for all has been hijacked by a demented, miniscule minority. And, as my friend says, only Muslims can solve this problem.  Only Muslims can confront these anarchists in their midst.

Only they can get their faith freed from the clutches of extremism. This is no time to hide. It’s time to stand up and speak out. For the terrorists will continue to speak on our behalf, until we do not speak up.  This is no time for silence.  Enough is enough! “

My Tech blog goes live … :)

well what should i say.. again as i was in dilemma when to start, how to start, where to start…??

lots of questions ???

seems totally confused, but ya finally the bang came and news was IE8 beta 2 is available..

but what is so special about it, that made me start a new tech blog..??

hmm.. people, just get up, go to the download page , download it , install the beta and feel the difference !!!

i would say it is the best ever version of IE ever released, although being beta it will be having bugs, one such is flickering of chat box in gmail, automatic shut down of explorer, missing data and many other things, but at the end of the day it is “user experience”, I am sure most of us will enjoy using it.

My comment becomes live on TimesofIndia.com

Well a day before when country was heating up with almost tesnsion from every where, the major being terrorism and Jammu and kashmir issue, the Amarnath land Issue has created yet other political battleground for politisions to make profit on communal issues like this.

i was just browsing through news articles and found a damn truthful and factful article by Tarun Vijay a times of India columnist.

His article titled “Reclaiming India”, is truly a fantastic piece of literature that can can bring awareness in fellow Indians who are still in sleep, unaware about what is happening in the world. the article can be read here

So without giving a thought i posted a comment for the author, and soon after some time, i received a mail notifying me “Your comment is live on TimesofIndia.com”, and my comments can be read here

My first Interview ;)

oaky so here comes the D day without any prior intimation…U guys might be thinking what the damn, is he speaking about, Interview and that too without any plans??

Seems funny na, but friends let me tell you this was not the job interview, this was the Interview call from student partners team from Microsoft for MSP recruitment. So is the picture clear now???

Okie then let me proceed, to be precise it was 27th Feb 07, @ 4:31 PM, again u might be wondering how can i remember that exact time ??

Well again, let me take u from the start, as it was just last hour of the day, i was just coming out from My class room as the bell rang, just a min after the bell rang, their was a buzzzzz in my cell, although cell phones were not allowed in college and during class hours, most of us used to keep it but in silent mode (quite disciplined guys), well coming back to scene, just checking the number 080—–, i rushed out of the class, and probably i was the first one to leave the class that time…

so I just gave a thought that some one from Bangalore is calling, so i just came down to first floor and attended the call which gave me a sudden shock as the person from the other end said “hello this is XYZ, from Microsoft, is this Kunjal Maheshwari “……

For a moment I even forgot my name, but then, i got control over my senses and replied back, yes this is kunjal, and then their came a normalizing response that made me go calm..

so a brief narration of the whole incident goes like this

interviewer : So Kunjal, You have applied for Microsoft student partner program

me : (getting back in time, and recalling the application) ya ya ya, i applied for that long back, but got no response since then.

interviewer : ok can you spare some time now ?

me : of course I can.. (but in mean while I was very worried as i was still in campus and was speaking on mobile and the stairs were common way for students and faculty to go through)

interviewer : So, kunjal tell me about yourself ??

me : Just gave an overview about me and my college… bla bla bla…

interviewer : okie kunjal, so what do are your hobbies ??

me : well this is question on which i can speak a lot, i love to learn new things and see how that works, i love networking, i love music and in free time plays keyboard (i was also a runner up in Instrumental music competition held in college), apart from that i also like cooking 😉

interviewer : cooking ?? so what all things can you cook ??

me : well not to say its as a hobby, its my passion (well just took gaurav’s name in mind, who created interest in me for the same, Thanks gaurav 🙂 ), i can create mainly any Veg items, and being fact, that even we cook in hostel (although it was banned) from daal chawal to pav bhaji, just take the name and we will 😛

interviewer : oh that’s sounds pretty good !!!

me : thanks

interviewer : so kunjal, can you tell me in details about projects done ??

me : told them about the database project using VB, then Microcontroller based project, then the main one..

Typing tutor using Java swings and AWT..

interviewer : can you brief in more details about the last one ..??

me : started with the negatives (although wrong way to convey), i told abt the features i have included.

and in mean while i was very truthful about results and accuracy.

interviewer : so how much frequent you are online ?? and what are your favorite destination on WWW ??

me : here I got a golden chance, I told them that we use GPRS for browsing the net, so i was almost online. then i mentioned about ACM, IEEE, news sites to be my favorite spots.

interviewer : (then there came an obvious question) what do you do of this websites ??

me : (As I wanted to get credit for my first prize in paper presentation, that i won on 22nd Feb., just around a week before my interview) so i just made my answer like this, See ACM and IEEE are very big organizations, going through various research papers i was out with my paper in “Pervasive Computing”, which bagged first prize in a student convention held last week.

interviewer : kunjal, let us now discuss some basics, and he asked some technical questions!!

(i just answered all those .. bingo ..)

interviewer : are you aware about .net ??

me : being frank, i am totally unaware about .net, but ya as i said i like to learn new things, i will give a shot if given me a chance.

interviewer : then are you a member of any .net user group ??

me : NO, not yet (this time i thought i am gonna loose it, as i was black abt .net at that time and his questions were digging me around the same)

interviewer : (but then, he changed the topic 🙂 ) so kunjal, can you justify your role as an MSP ??

me : here I came out with my true presentation skills, I blabbered a lot and at that time thought “really I am a good speaker ”

interviewer : kunjal, that’s all for now, nice speaking you, you will be informed about your selection through mails so keep checking it okie.

me : thanks and same to you.

P.S. : here comes an end to my first Interview, i was just very excited, as at least I got a call from Microsoft, although not sure, i would be selected or not, but ya it was good time to think that i had my first interview and that too “Without Preparing for it”

First steps to MSP…….

going back in time, it was around October 2006, when I came across, Microsoft student partners poster in our campus, that was pasted on one of the notice boards on 2nd floor of IT block, then quickly I opened my notebook, and noted the web site link http://student-partners.com, I went to net lab, and downloaded the Nomination form.

just then days passed as usual, then suddenly one day, The form which was stored on my laptop, appeared in front of me, and at that moment i gave a thought why not go to net lab and submit the form, then at that point of time, I  hurried up filled in the entries and quickly went to the net lab as net connection was not there in hostels.

now having a look in time it was 9:45 PM and at 10:30 labs would close, so just was hurrying up, by the time I got a free system it was already 10:30

Actually in between there were many jobs to be done like

1) coming to net lab from hostel

2) making entry into the log register

3) copying my documents from pen drive to my account

4) Produce your net card before lab in charge, again make a entry in their log

5) Wait for a system to get free [only 16 systems in net lab 😦 … ]

So you can understand what all the hardships I went through to just get a system to start browsing.

Now finally before wasting my time, I quickly logged in my account and send the mail…

GOOD job kunjal, finally you have done it..

BUT, the things do not end here

Again a week went just like that and i was again in net lab to check in my mails, fortunately their was a mail from Student partners Team from Microsoft, My heart pounded and in enthu, I opened it, to find a message

“Kindly attach the Nomination form”

lol……… 😀

what happened was, that in hurry, I just forget to attach the form and send the mail, without ant documents.

but the things are never the same, so again the mail was send and this time form was attached.

Now the wait started, when will i get the reply, but ya, I have done my job  🙂

IS THIS THE LIFE???

Just two days back, i was roaming around at my place in midst of showers, was just enjoying getting wet,

Actually i was on my way from home to my shop and in mean time i had to also to do a small work given by my mom.

Just after finishing my job, i was about to leave from that place, and the evening “pooja” started in near by temple of our most adorable deity “Shri Jankinath ji”, Being kind of “Nastik” psychology I just don’t believe in going and worshipping, except a few occasions.

But then it was just a change of mind, or what, I gave a thought why not just join in the pooja and get the blessings as it was just by chance I was on there on time for pooja, so I just came in to the temple premises.

Since I wasted my long time in deciding what to do?? The evening prayer was almost at the ending note, but it was my luck, or call from god?? I have no clues, but ya it was something memorable as I was fortunate enough o join the pooja, after getting Darshan and Prasad; I quickly hurried up to shop as my papa was waiting for me to come, so that we can both go home together, so I started my Activa, and quickly made my way to shop. Just then, while I was crossing that way, a small kid (as appeared to me) called me, (now the conversation between us as follows) and in no time, I was on halt.

Kid : (with waving hand for lift), asked me “bhaiya kaha tak jaa rahe ho ?”

Me : tumhe kaha tak jaana he ? me to jawahar marg tak jaa raha hu.

Kid : bhaiya mujhe to collector tak jaana he, par aap is corner tak hi chor dena.

Me : thik he beth jao, and I was scolding him for asking unknown persons for lift

Kid: then he replied bhaiya, ghar dur he and baarish aa rahi he.

Me : okie, but aaj ke baad kisi se lift mat lena, chalo abhi beth jao, me is corner tak tumhe drop kar deta hu.

Kid : theek hai bhaiya..

Then I started questioning a lot,

Q. 1) what were you doing here alone?

Bhaiya, I work here in garments shop ( I was quite amazed and shocked, such a small kid was earning, then certain questions that are obvious from our view came in)

Q. 2) why do you work, and don’t you study..???Beta, don’t start working now, study hard.

I do study bhaiya, I am in 8th standard, I go to school in morning and come for work in evening, I have to work to earn livelihood, I have my mumma and elder sister at home, mumma used to work at near by homes and I work here, so if we don’t earn we can’t survive.

There were no more questions from my side, I was just made silent by that small kid, who actually faced this world much before than i will, in mean time the corner came, and my heart melted why not help him at least today, so I told him I will drop you till collector office keep seated, and after leaving him, I just kept thinking about that till today, and might be god has asked me to help him that day ??

IS THIS THE LIFE???

25th july 08- the black friday repeats :(

Friday the day of Goddess lakshmi from hindu’s point of view,

Friday The day of Namaaz from Muslim’s Point of View,

Friday A last working day from a IT architects view

Friday, was a usual day for all of us,

But the Holy Friday, was profaned by the most shameless creatures of this world so called the “terrorists”,

I just can not believe how can this people survive with the motive of killing people, they don’t even know, whom are they targeting, Are they targeting Hindu’s ?? or they targeting Muslim’s or they targeting Christians ?? totally baseless, and jobless..

I want to ask u people if you are reading it ?? tell me who are you all ?? do you belong to any particular religion ??

If yes, then please go and kill urself before making plans for killing anyone !!! yes dude, In no religion killing is considered as a matter of pride, nor the matter of justice, nor the matter of strength.

Why dont you come in front and raise your voice ?? why are u acting like cowards ?? hiding in well and targetting innocents who are our brothers and sisters.

I can understand, you dont have family, and you dont have that respect at all to stand before us,

you belong to that low class section of the society, that can never ever in the history of world, can do good for any one including yourself, If u think god will give u heaven for this, i pray god for this, as i am not like u. I am part of society that has some Moral, respect for elders and youngsters, we have love in our hearts, and that love makes our life beautiful, and there fore please don’t expect your life to become like ours, because “you belong to lowest category of animals on this earth”

Well for the time being we all are getting affected, but again want to iterate, whom actually are you taregtting huh..

The blasts which rocked bangalore on the holy friday, had an effect on each one, whether hindu or muslim, and in blasts your motive of targetting any perticular religion could’nt be fulfilled.

So my dear friends, even after reading this you heart have not turned human, they i just pray to got to save you, as Evil is always will be evil and never can win !!!

Banglorians, i pray for all your well being, please keep calm, maintain peace, and help fellow citizens and government to tackle such a shamefull act of terrorism,
